The Story of Success: Own Production of JSC Tander

As part of the state export support program, with the assistance of the Russian Export Center, the best domestic producers of food and beverages took part in the largest 25th International Exhibition Gulfood 2020, held in Dubai in February.

Goods of own production were also presented by the largest Russian enterprise – JSC Tander, which is better known to the general consumer for its Magnit retail chain. Not everyone associates the Сompany with production, but the business is conducted in several directions at once and the rapid development of own production, launched in 1999, is very successful, profitable and large-scale. Fifteen food production plants see more than 450 items manufactured, including confectionery, pasta, tea, dry foods, vegetables, greens and mushrooms. Some of the enterprises are located in the company-owned Krasnodar Industrial Park, occupying an area of more than 250 hectares. A developed logistics network is in place – a fleet of 5,800 vehicles serves 38 distribution centres. Yet the rapidly growing direction has not reached the limit in terms of development and still has a long way to go.

Since 2017, the Company has been exporting products manufactured by the own production facilities to the countries of the Eurasian Customs Union and the former CIS countries. The presentation of goods of the JSC Tander’s own production facilities at Gulfood 2020 was an excellentopportunity to expand the sales geography over long distances, enter the Middle East market and establish direct contacts with partners. The Company noticed the practical results from participating in the exhibitionas early as in August, when the first container with chocolate candies andbars produced by Konditer Kubani was shipped to a customer from Yemen from the port of Novorossiysk. The contract with Al-manei Trading Company was signed right there at the event, becoming the first Middle Eastern deal of the Company. “Entering the Middle East market is a landmark event for us,” says Nikita Shelest, Head of the Export Segment for JSC Tander’s Own Production. “The Eastern partners are very demanding for quality of products and reputation of the manufacturer. JSC Tander has been running business in accordance with all legal standards for more than 25 years and honors its business obligations. I am sure that the products will be duly appreciated by the consumer in Yemen and the cooperation will become long-term. We will have something more to offer, because the product range of all our production facilities is constantly increasing and one of the advantages for customers is the ability to purchase various types of goods from a single supplier, receiving them directly from the manufacturer. Moreover, individual terms of cooperation are discussed with each new partner, such as the production of goods under a private label and the expansion of the assortment matrix.”
